Innocence Under Siege
You’d think you’ve had the toughest day of your life when your toddler gets sick:
Their diminished appetite makes them toss all food on the floor, and they’ll spit out any medicine you manage to shove in their mouth…
The only time they’ll stop being fussy is when they’re held, and just as you take a sigh of relief because you think they’ve finally drifted off into a deep sleep, their eyes spring wide open.
But you’re wrong:
Because amidst the chaos, they have food to toss, medicine to aid their recovery, your comforting embrace, a cozy bed to rest in, and healthy eyes that flutter with life.
In the world of Gaza, these essentials are nowhere to be found.
Half of Palestine’s population comprises children who have been forced to grow up before they even got the chance to play like children do.
Their innocence has been stolen and their childhoods have been robbed from between their fragile little hands.
75 years of occupation and 5 months of genocide later…
There are now over a MILLION Gazan children who have been forced to witness and experience the horrors of humanity in the form of hundreds of gruesome massacres.
Forced from their homes, they’ve watched familiar buildings, including their schools and playgrounds, crumble before their innocent eyes. They’ve witnessed the slaughter of neighbors and loved ones, the agony of starvation, and the merciless loss of life.
Then, one by one all of it happened to each one of them, too.
Since October 7, one child in Gaza has been killed every 10 minutes. And over 10 children in Gaza have lost a limb every day. There is now an entire generation of children who have lost one or more limbs. An entire generation that has been orphaned, starved, and denied any sense of “childhood.”
Blast Burns, Torn Limbs, and Endless Hunger
Here’s what stings the most:
When all of this is over, there will be no more bombing…
These children will still not be getting their childhood, their families, or their limbs back.
They have been scarred for life.
We may not be able to physically put this horrific nightmare to an end, and we may not be able to restore the heavy losses these children have borne…
But we can help them receive the love, care, and professional help that they need today.
We may not be able to make sure their tomorrow is promised, and that they don’t lose any more than they’ve already lost…
But we can make sure their today is a lot better than their yesterday.
Together, we can make sure that when the sun rises tomorrow, these traumatized and vulnerable little angels have proper food to eat and someone who can bandage their wounds for them.
Out of the 1.3 million people displaced in Gaza, more than 610,000 are children.
However, only a handful of these children remain unscathed by physical injuries.
More than 17,000 of them have either lost or been separated from their parents. And all of them have endured severe mental and emotional trauma. So much so, some have even lost the ability to speak before mastering basic words.
Many of these children were already battling life threatening diseases like cancer and thalassemia before the bombing began. However, with nearly all of the healthcare facilities bombed, a huge shortage of medical staff, and the unavailability of medical equipment…
They are also deprived of basic healthcare, including urgently needed surgeries and treatments.
Fortunately, a few of these children have been evacuated to safer places like Turkey so they can receive the medical attention they need. But, they still need help to be able to afford that treatment because their families and guardians have already lost their entire livelihoods.
Whether evacuated, or still stranded,
Whether starving, or maimed
Whether separated from parents, or orphaned completely,
Whether dying, or mourning loved ones,
In every circumstance the children of Gaza need our help.
By contributing as little as $65 today, you can help provide us provide Gazan children with:

➡️ Urgent lifesaving medical help
➡️ Long-term Professional and Humanitarian Care
➡️ Medical Treatments & Surgeries
➡️ Prosthetics for Amputees

➡️ Food and sustenance
Let’s leave no child behind. Let’s make sure these precious little souls know the world has not turned its back on them. Let’s make sure they know there are people who still care, and that all hope is not lost.
“I can’t imagine, if anything were to ever happen to my [son], what I would do…”
Imam Khalid Lateef came with us to visit the Gazan families who were rescued and evacuated so they could receive urgent medical care.
Among the many families we met, was a 6-year-old boy named Kareem and his father.
Imam Khalid Lateef has a son bearing the same name, and as he shared his experience with us, he told us how the Gazan Kareem reminded him of his own beloved son.
No parent can ever imagine seeing their child go through what these children are going through…
And yet, there’s a boy out there, and thousands of others like him, who lost his entire family in the blink of an eye.
The night when Kareem’s house was struck, his father, Mahmoud, had gone to visit his parents.
The last message Mahmoud received from his beloved wife was,
“May God protect us all. Before going to bed, Kareem [son] and Sabouha [daughter] said we miss Daddy a lot. Mahmoud, I love you a lot. I’m waiting for you. May God not deprive me of you.”
Mahmoud did not get to pray for his wife or his daughter when they died.
He does not know where they were buried.
Kareem was the only one from his family who survived that night.
Mahmoud found and rescued him from under the rubble — Kareem had been stuck underneath for quite a while.
Mahmoud went through what no loving father or husband should ever have to go through.
Kareem went through what no child, especially a 6-year-old, should have to go through.
And both of them have to live with it for the rest of the rest of their lives. At only 6, Kareem is already battling nightmares and does not know how to cope with these tremors — no child in Gaza does.
We cannot bring the dead back to life. But we can make the journey ahead of them easier. We can give Kareem and Mahmoud the medical care—both physical and mental, that they need in order to grieve and move ahead in life.
When their tears bear witness against these atrocities, what will your answer be?
The Prophet SAW said, and Abu Bakr As-Siddiq (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:
[…] “When people see an oppressor but do not prevent him from (doing evil), it is likely that Allah will punish them all.”
[Abu Dawud and At-Tirmidhi]
We are all witnessing our Palestinian brothers and sisters be subject to the worst forms of oppression. And their suffering is not going unnoticed, for He is all-knowing, all-seeing, and all-hearing.
So, when on the Day of Judgement, these children and their parents complain to Allah SWT, and Allah SWT asks you if you did anything to help…
What will your answer be?
Today, you have the opportunity to do more than just speak up about their suffering…
You have the opportunity to actually help them and save the lives of their young ones.
You have the opportunity to, in the words of Refaat Alareer, let their story live. To let them live.
