From North to South – Nowhere Secure, No One Spared

More than 5 months ago, Israel attacked Gaza.

Since then, Israel has relentlessly carpet-bombed bakeries, hospitals, shelters, holy spaces, residential areas; no one and nothing is spared.

Out of the 30,035+ Palestinians killed so far

➡️ 10,000+ are children

➡️ 9,000+ are women

➡️ 70,457+ are wounded

➡️ 8,000+ are trapped under the rubble

On October 17, what feels like a lifetime ago, Israel bombed the Al-Ahli Hospital in Gaza, where injured and displaced Palestinians (mainly women and children) were seeking refuge.

In the aftermath, body parts and human remains were scattered all over the place.

Those who didn’t die were left injured, vulnerable, and defenseless. After that, Israel continued to bomb hospitals and shelters, including Al-Shifa’s courtyard and Kamal Adwan’s ICU in the children’s department.

Surrounding areas of other hospitals were constantly bombed…

The Al Fakhoura school in the Jabalia refugee camp and a second school in Tal al-Zaatar were bombed…

(both of these schools were sheltering THOUSANDS of people)
Israeli soldiers ran bulldozers over several tents outside Kamal Adwan Hospital, where Palestinian refugees and patients were sheltering. Many of them were buried alive!

Hundreds of Palestinian males have been abducted and tortured…

Due to poor sanitation, diseases have started to spread and women are forced to give birth without any medical care…

Heavy rain and winters have made living conditions EVEN more miserable for the displaced Palestinians…

Israel then began operations in the West Bank and then the South of Gaza too…

On 5 March 2024, a 13-year-old girl was rescued and transferred to a field hospital in Rafah after being trapped under the rubble of her house in Weat Khan Younis, which Israel had bombed and destroyed — despite having initially declared the area as a “safe zone.”

A day prior, 41 Palestinian dead bodies in various areas in Khan Younis were recovered from under the rubble.

Nowhere in Palestine is safe in the midst of this genocide, not even the “safe zones”!

And these are only snippets of what Gaza has been experiencing for over 155 days now.

As we head into Ramadan, there is no sign of a ceasefire in sight — Israel is only gearing up for the worse.

WORST OF ALL: CHILDREN ARE HAVING TO WITNESS AND EXPERIENCE ALL OF THIS!

Let that sink in.

Imagine being a 4-year-old and just wanting to be in your mother’s arms, crying for her—unaware that she is gone for good.

Imagine being a 6-year-old–miraculously spared from the bombing, now confronted with the barely recognizable corpse of your mother and your siblings.

Imagine being a 10-year-old finding out all of your family is gone.

There is no one and nowhere left for these children to go.

How does a child EVER recover from a trauma THIS intense?

If you’ve ever read Anne Frank’s diary and wondered what kind of a world would let innocent souls go through this, then today, you’ve got your answer: THIS WORLD.

Palestine has always been difficult — the Israeli forces double down their efforts in oppression every single year without fail.

Now, with the world staying silent on a full-fledged genocide, things may only get worse.

However, despite Israel’s relentless efforts to crush the spirits of the people of Palestine, they’ve been unable to kill the joy. The displaced families have started to decorate their camps with whatever little they have left — even as they starve, even as they continue to live a hellish nightmare, hope is always going to uplift Palestinian families.

But…

What About the Orphaned Children?

“They killed my mother. They killed my grandmother. They killed my sister. They killed my uncle. What have I done to deserve this?”

These were the words spoken by a little Palestinian girl who had just witnessed doctors carrying her mother’s corpse away.

She cried inconsolably, begging the world to stop this torture— asking why her family had to be killed, and what was the crime that she had committed.

A 10-year-old boy entered an ambulance with a schoolbag, and when the Paramedic asked,
“Why are you carrying a school bag in the ambulance, my dear?”

He replied,
“I put my little brother’s pieces in it.”

Imagine being 10 and having to collect the body parts of your younger sibling in your school bag.

These children have been scarred for life.

47% of the population in Gaza is children. 33,000 of them are now completely orphaned. When all of this is over, what about them?

As we fast in Ramadan and the families in Gaza try to find some sense of hope and joy, these orphaned children will seldom find any.

They have not only been starved of nutrition.

They’ve been starved of all sense of normalcy and affection as well.

And those who survive will continue to starve, in all possible ways, during the next 30 days, too.

So far in Gaza,

➡️ 30,035+ Palestinians have been killed.

➡️ 65,000+ residential buildings have been destroyed.

➡️ Healthcare facilities have been attacked 304 times — destroying 26 out of 36 hospitals

➡️ 346 schools have been damaged or destroyed.

➡️ ALL Universities are destroyed.

➡️ 381 Mosques and Churches have been either demolished or damaged.

➡️ 1.9 MILLION+ Gazans have been displaced

These are not just numbers… This is the REALITY for the 2.3 Million people in Gaza…

REAL people with real dreams, hopes, aspirations, families, and friends— just like the rest of us.

Mass graves… Mass starvation… Ice cream vans to hold bodies… children writing their names on them so they can be identified if they are bombed… Nameless bodies…

THOUSANDS of decayed bodies still trapped under the rubble… Completely disfigured faces and bodies hiding behind bandages…

Operations carried out on the floors without anesthesia or proper medication…

Palestinian children are enduring horrors that we cannot even bear to see in our worst nightmares.

Since October 7, more than 10 children in Gaza have lost one or both of their legs every day.

Doctors are registering wounded children as registered as “unknown”, or under the acronym WCNSF – wounded child, no surviving family – because their entire families have been wiped out, and if they’ve survived the raids, their faces have become completely unrecognizable…

There’s an entire generation of children who have no limbs, no family members; they can never be fully independent, but have no one to depend on either…

How are they going to survive?

Their reality is far worse than ANYTHING we have ever witnessed or seen— even the movies do not come close.

Despite months of bombing, the Israeli government refuses to back down. For Gaza, this means,

More trauma. More bloodshed. More orphans.

What have the children of Gaza done to deserve any of this?

How We’re Helping

With families murdered, homes destroyed, and no sense of normalcy in life, Palestinian children need our support THE MOST. No child should have to endure what Palestinian children are enduring.

But, can you adopt them and help them have a better life?

Unfortunately, with all the legal difficulties, no.

Instead, what you can do to ensure a better future for these children–apart from calling for a ceasefire and praying, is to sponsor an orphan with HCI.

Our goal is to sponsor 1,500 orphans in Palestine — to ensure that the children who have NOTHING left in this world have our support at the very least.

When you sponsor an orphan, you will be ensuring all the basic necessities (food, water, shelter, hygiene, education) of ONE orphaned child are taken care.

With just the push of a button and a commitment of $60, you can deliver hope and love to children in Gaza who have lost EVERYTHING they have ever owned and loved.
